Every October 19, we mark National Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Day, a day to raise awareness of PsA, amplify patient voices, and shine a light on the realities of living with this often-misunderstood disease. PsA affects thousands of Canadians, yet many remain undiagnosed for years. Early recognition and treatment are key to protecting joints and improving quality of life.
Understanding Psoriatic Arthritis: What’s Happening to My Body?
The Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association hosted a webinar, “Psoriatic Arthritis: What’s Happening to My Body?” with Dr. Dafna Gladman, highlighting how psoriatic arthritis (PsA) affects more than just joints. She explained early signs like joint pain, nail changes, and fatigue, and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. The session also covered PsA’s impact on the skin, tendons, eyes, gut, and heart, and encouraged self-advocacy and use of CSA support resources.
