Il est possible de r\u00e9ussir avec une bonne planification.<\/p>\n<p>Vous trouverez ci-dessous des conseils pour vous aider \u00e0 naviguer dans vos \u00e9tudes postsecondaires tout en vivant avec la SpA.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Inscrivez-vous aupr\u00e8s du bureau des services d\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 ou d\u2019invalidit\u00e9 de votre institution<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Cela peut \u00eatre ardu et intimidant \u00e0 faire, mais pourrait att\u00e9nuer de beaucoup le stress dans votre vie. Pour plus de conseils sur la gestion de temps, consultez cet article (link other post).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Arr\u00eatez de vous sentir coupable<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nous savons tous qu\u2019une personne qui \u00e9tudie sans arr\u00eat peut vous faire sentir incomp\u00e9tent quand elle vous dit qu\u2019elle a d\u00e9j\u00e0 lu tout le manuel et qu\u2019elle est pr\u00eate pour l\u2019examen. Ne laissez pas cette personne vous atteindre. Si vous avez besoin d\u2019arr\u00eater d\u2019\u00e9tudier parce que la fatigue vous envahit, ou si vous devez vous promener pour garder vos articulations mobiles, FAITES-LE! Vous remarquerez que vous serez plus productif acad\u00e9miquement lorsque votre corps et votre esprit se sentiront bien.<\/p>\n<p>Il est \u00e9galement important d\u2019arr\u00eater de vous comparer aux autres. Bien que cela puisse sembler amusant, il est important de toujours donner la priorit\u00e9 \u00e0 votre sant\u00e9 et \u00e0 votre corps lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de socialiser. Adding chronic illness to this mix may seem like an impossible balancing act, but rest assured, young adults with SpA from all across Canada have been surviving and thriving throughout their time at post-secondary institutions. It is possible to be successful with good planning.<\/p><p>Below are tips to help you navigate post-secondary education while living with SpA.<\/p><h3>Register with your School\u2019s Accessibility or Disability Service Office\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><p>It can be daunting and intimidating to do this, but it can alleviate so much stress from your life. Every school\u2019s office will be different but usually you can register for accommodations for exams, assignments, attendance and more.<\/p><p>In general, registering with the office means that you have \u201capproved accommodations\u201d and therefore you are not required to repeat and justify yourself to every professor you meet. However, many students have had very positive experiences disclosing directly to professors, it depends on your level of comfort.<\/p><p>If you are newly diagnosed or new to post-secondary education, you may not even know what accommodations you need but the advisors from the accommodation\u2019s office should be able to guide you through it. In some cases, accommodation advisors may ask for medical documentation (i.e. a letter from your doctor or rheumatologist) to verify your condition.<\/p><p>It\u2019s recommended to register for your accommodations as soon as you are diagnosed. Even if you don\u2019t end up needing all of them right away, you\u2019ll thank yourself later. Extra time or \u201cstop-watch time\u201d may be allotted to students. Stop-watch time allows you to pause your exam and take breaks as needed, which may be useful if you frequently need to take stretch breaks.\u00a0<\/li><li>Ability to write exams on your computer (for short answer and long answer questions).
