GIFTS OF RRSP/RRIF
You can name the Canadian Spondylitis Association as the direct beneficiary of your registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) and registered retirement income funds (RRIFs) and/or pension plan. In doing so, trust assets will not be subject to probate fees as your RRSP/RRIF exists outside of the estate settlement process. This can be an advantageous way to offset taxes owing on funds at the time of death.
BENEFITS OF MAKING GIFTS OF RRSP/RRIF:
- Your gift is treated as a charitable donation in the year of death and is eligible for a charitable tax credit on your final tax return
- You retain full access to your retirement funds for the duration of your lifetime
- The designation is revocable and can be changed if your financial and/or life circumstances change
- Funds that otherwise would be lost to taxation are re-directed towards helping CSA support Canadians living with spondyloarthritis
HOW TO GIVE GIFTS OF RRSP/RRIF:
Simply name Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association as a direct beneficiary on the plan document and advise the institution holding your retirement account of the change. We encourage you to also advise the Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association of your decision, which will be held in confidence as per your wishes.

Legacy and Estate Gifts
Legacy gifts, sometimes referred to as planned giving, ensure that there is a better future for people living with spondyloarthritis, where Canadians are properly diagnosed in a timely manner, have access to the treatment options they deserve and can be part of a thriving, active SpA community in Canada.
Legacy gifts, such as leaving a contribution in your will are an easy way to help The Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association grow its impact and continue to produce educational programs, advocate on behalf of the SpA community and support research for generations to come.
Types of Legacy Giving
There are many legacy giving options available that make leaving a legacy for the spondyloarthritis community a reality for many Canadians.
